About yoga:
Yoga is a philosophy which, through physical and mental exercise, helps to bring a person to a state of awareness and tranquillity.
It helps to calm the mind, alleviate the effects of stress and it gets you in touch with your body.

About this class:
This class is for people who have some experience of yoga but perhaps have not taken a class for a some time. It is also suitable to athletes who want to add good stretching exercises to their fitness practice.
You will learn how connecting with the breath while stretching muscles and holding postures will add strength and flexibility to the body.

The benefits of regular practice are many – yoga stretches help to:
  • Improve posture and flexibility
  • Build muscle strength and tone
  • Improve the functioning of all body systems
  • Athletes everywhere are discovering the benefits of Yoga

Yoga at the OBUS Wellness Centre
At the OBUS Wellness Centre we are committed to helping people find their level of flexibility. We run different levels of Yoga
  • Yoga for General Fitness
  • Advanced Yoga for people who have been practicing Yoga for some time and want to build strength and flexibility
  • Therapeutic Yoga for people with limited mobility
  • Yoga Therapy - one on one sessions for people who need more direction than they can receive in a class

About Elma:
Elma Toland is a yoga teacher with immense experience and knowledge and would be widely respected within the “world of yoga”.

She trained with Irish Yoga Association and began teaching yoga in 1993.
1997 she trained with the Yoga Biomedical Trust, London, where for the next two years she studied Yoga as a therapy and received her Yoga Therapy Diploma.
Since that time Elma has worked with Yoga therapeutically, teaching people the value of Yoga in promoting health and fulfilment in their lives. She works with people in wheelchairs, people suffering from MS, Arthritis, Emphysema, Back Pain, and people with Addiction.

In 2000 Elma, along with 5 other yoga teachers, formed Yoga Therapy Ireland.
Y.T.I. is a training organization, training yoga teachers in Classical Yoga with a strong emphasis on its therapeutic value. Elma teaches on their Teacher Training Courses and Postgraduate Courses.

Each year Elma returns to her native Inishowen, Co. Donegal with groups of yoga enthusiasts. She runs (with 2 others) a “Yoga Holiday “ where people get to enjoy the Donegal landscape, vegetarian food and daily yoga classes.

Elma teaches Yoga for general fitness, Theraputic Yoga and Meditation classes in OBUS Wellness Centre.
